Responsible Conduct of Scholarship

The Public Health Service (PHS) published a policy on December 1, 2000 requiring all research staff who receive PHS funding to complete basic instruction in the responsible conduct of research. It has also recommended that  institutions consider providing RCR instruction to non PHS-supported research staff and support staff relevant to their roles in the research enterprise. Furthermore, it is recommended that all research staff receive continuing education in the form of videos, seminars, newsletters, etc. The PHS provides educational resources as well as financial resources for those interested in developing educational materials for the responsible conduct of research.

Please note: Although this PHS policy is currently suspended, it is anticipated that it, or a similar policy, will be (re)implemented in the near future.
